The autobiography, published by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia in collaboration with the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) and UTM is a reflection of the author's life from childhood in Kampung Ulu Inas, Johol, Negeri Sembilan and depicts the very essence of Tan Sri Salleh's struggle and passion for the preservation of nature and the natural environment. A strong-willed, knowledgeable and determined person, Tan Sri Salleh has established a reputation as one of the world's leading Malay Scientists in Forestry and the Environment. As a leading higher learning institution in engineering and technology, UTM is a strong proponent of green technology development and the book will be an inspiration and point of reference, especially to our future generation in our continuous struggle to save the environment. Tan Sri Salleh holds a Bachelor Degree in forestry from the University of Adelaide and Diploma in Forestry from the Australian Forestry School in Canberra in 1964 and later pursued studies at Masters and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of Michigan in the United States in 1974 and 1977 respectively.
